<div>I have often pondered the issue of human behavior and how power seems to corrupt so many of us. Rather than ponder it alone, I thought it might be interesting to see if we can generate some discussion here. <br/> <br/>Here’s the observation and question: <br/> <br/>The connection between power and its impetus for human corruption is well established throughout history with countless examples so commonly known as to warrant further elaboration unnecessary. What troubles me about this characteristic beyond the obvious, however, is that I believe I have witnessed this same propensity among people within our community. Not always given to my own observations, I have also heard many complaints and criticisms from some of my most highly respected friends regarding this same phenomenon. Specifically, it seems that the most talented, stylized and spiritually gifted individuals among us often grow smug or condescending as their paths take them to the highest levels of their crafts, gifts or skills. Even those who seem to peek out from behind their shells from time to time seem to lack sincerity or appear motivated by some other factor. Is this not power and corrupted spirits or are there other factors at work? I wonder if Buddha, Lao Tze, Ghandi or other enlightened ones speak directly to this problem? <div>What are coincidences? Without going into too much detail, there is an incredible coincidence happening to me. It has been going on for a while and it's weird. I don't know why I can't shake it. I've never been very good at reading signs. I've never really fully trusted my instincts, but I'm trying to change that. At the same time, I don't want to put too much credit into something I don't understand. But this is like a HUGE blinking arrow pointing in a direction. When do you know if a coincidence is something that should be paid attention to or just shrugged off as...well...a coincedence??
